In the 14th century the Mortimers of Wigmore Castle, self acclaimed earls of March, found themselves in a pivotal position in English history. They were the largest landowners in the Welsh Border and via marriages were connected with both the Welsh and English Royal families. With the decline of the Lancastrian monarchy in the mid-15th century they made a bid for power. This tumultuous story is the theme of this tour with Hereford historian Dr David Whitehead providing expert guidance.
