This wonderful new tour looks at the myriad of art in India, explored in the company of art and textiles expert Jasleen Kandhari. We start at the amazing Golden Temple in Amritsar, a beacon of Sikh artistic expression and follow a route south through Palimpar, Chandigarh, Delhi, Agra, Orchha, Khajuraho and Sanchi to Bhopal, looking at Islamic, Hindu, Jain and Buddhist art and architecture as we go. Highlights include the stunning monument to love that is the Taj Mahal, the amazing temple complex in Khajuraho and the strange Buddhist stupas in Sanchi.
Your Lecturer - Jasleen Kandhari
An Indian art and textiles expert, Jasleen tutors for Oxford University. She has lectured at museums including the National Museum India, the Ashmolean, British Museum and Christie’s. Her scholarship PhD is on Indian textiles and she is the author of the new Thames & Hudson World of Art book series on Sikh art and architecture.
